Florida Small Business Development Center

Scale Up North Florida
Scale Up North Florida is a program of the U.S. Small Business Administration that is designed to help growth-oriented, high-potential entrepreneurs create jobs, increase sales and access capital for business development. With its office at the Beaver Street Enterprise Center, this intensive program provides support at no charge to help companies:
- Scale their business
- Connect to available resources
- Access growth capital
- Lead their peers, employees and communities
- Expand their firms
- Undertake transformative change
- Profit from the experience
Only 50 companies are selected each year to participate in the Scale Up program. To qualify, a company must have a desire to grow, have been in business for at least two years, have annual sales between $150,000 and $750,000 and be located in Duval, St. Johns, Nassau, Baker, Clay or Putnam counties. Applications for 2016 are being accepted through Oct. 31, 2015. Prospective participants must complete an online application and an in-person interview.
SCORE Jacksonville SBA
SCORE Jacksonville SBA is a volunteer organization that provides free counseling and advice to small businesses located in Northeast Florida. The Jacksonville chapter has about 50 business mentors with deep experience in a wide range of businesses and industries. SCORE provides support to business owners in several ways, including:
- Free confidential mentoring for startups and existing businesses
- Workshops to help entrepreneurs start and run a successful business,
- Advice on how to get a business loan, and
- Assistance with putting together a successful business plan.
Jacksonville Women's Business Center
The Jacksonville Women’s Business Center is funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration and the JAX Chamber Foundation, advances the success of women entrepreneurs at every stage of business development. Programs are designed for the woman entrepreneur who is operating an established business located in one of the seven counties in Northeast Florida: Duval, Baker, Clay, Nassau, Flagler, St. Johns or Putnam.
Women business owners and entrepreneurs seek out the Jacksonville Women’s Business Center to explore the possibilities of starting a business, find answers to operational and management issues and to connect with a knowledge bank of business experts. The services and programs presented by the JWBC are offered at no cost or low-cost (with a few limited partial scholarships) to clients.
We also have a number of generous corporate partners who support our work, including OE&S Office Environments and Services, Firehouse Subs, All About Blinds, and Sleiman Enterprises, and we receive state support through Lutheran Services of Florida.
